End of an Era: Tori Franklin’s Leap Beyond The Track

The celebrated triple jumper closes one chapter and embraces the boundless possibilities ahead

After the final attempt in the Paris Olympic Qualifying Round, Tori Franklin sits in the moment after completing her Olympic Journey

Where do we begin.

My life has revolved around sports for the past twenty years… whether dance, karate, basketball, or track and field, I’ve always been moving, always pushing, grinding, trying to get better at whatever I do.

By 10 years old I knew that track and field would be my calling. I was faster than all the boys in my elementary school (except one), and I just had this drive to see how far I could push my body.

I hadn’t thought about college, to be honest. I was considering moving to Los Angeles and becoming an actress. I always had this dream of (insert old timey Hollywood accent) being a staarrr, darling.

You didn’t need titles to prove your greatness. It’s all in the journey and you sure nailed that. Keep inspiring, you’re already a champion in many ways.

Even though it’s not how you wanted to ended it, congratulations on the track and field career you. It is STILL a great achievement and I hope you know that.

My triple jumping days ended in college, and that’s when I found a new athletic love…

Great story. I'm going to miss your competing, but I know you have great things planned and I look forward to watching you complete your journey.
