My little sister sent me a beautiful video of Riddles — my niece and goddaughter. She’s so radiant and joyful. I’m so happy my sister is living her dream.

I glance out the window of this bus, rocking along an uneven, winding road on the way to a mountain town in Taiwan: Jiufen.

The ocean comes into view, and temples are nestled gently within the trees like birds in their nests.

I smile as I send them love while I tramp through the mountains. Hashtag cool auntie vibes. And I just feel…
So free.

I notice I haven’t felt forlorn, or yearning, or like I’m missing out on anything. I am happy on my journey — content and fulfilled in the life I’m living.

The bus soon stops in Jiufen, and I step out to take in the full view. It’s picturesque — magical, really.

It’s said to have inspired the enchanting setting of Spirited Away, with its misty mountains, glowing lanterns, and narrow alleys that feel like they lead into another realm — where time slips, and the spirit world might just be a step away.
